Before you choose

What to ask a broker

How are you paid?

Brokers are usually paid by commission from the insurer rather than a fee from you. Any broker should answer this without hesitating.

Which insurers did you approach?

A broker acts independently of any insurer. Ask how many markets they went to and why they recommend the one they did.

What is not covered?

Exclusions decide whether a policy pays. Ask for them in writing before you sign.

What happens when I claim?

Your broker should act for you in a claim. Ask who handles it and how quickly they respond.
